IELTS Writing Task 1 – Reasons for immigration (pie charts)

IELTSchef sẽ chỉ bạn cách xử lý dạng double pie chart này sao cho overview rõ ý và body không bị kể số liệu nha.

2. Cách viết Introduction

Paraphrase:

reasons for immigration / emigration
a European country
in 2009

Viết 1 câu ngắn là đủ nha.

3. Cách viết Overview

IELTSchef gợi ý overview nên tập trung vào:

Job-related reasons chiếm tỷ lệ lớn nhất ở cả hai charts
“No reason” là thấp nhất
People leaving the country có xu hướng đi vì “definite job” nhiều hơn
Chart “from the country” có sự chênh lệch lớn hơn giữa các categories

IELTSchef lưu ý:

Overview chỉ cần:

biggest
smallest
xu hướng chung
1 điểm khác biệt nổi bật

Không cần nhiều số liệu nha.

4. Cách chia Body

BODY 1 – Immigration TO the country

Nhóm:

category lớn nhất
các nhóm bằng nhau
category nhỏ nhất

IELTSchef gợi ý:

Chart này khá balanced nên có thể:

viết largest category trước
gom 3 categories bằng nhau vào cùng 1 câu
kết thúc bằng smallest category

BODY 2 – Immigration FROM the country

Tập trung vào:

“Definite job” vượt trội rõ rệt
các category trung bình
smallest category

IELTSchef lưu ý:

Body 2 nên nhấn mạnh:

sự dominance của “definite job”
một vài categories giảm so với chart đầu

5. Những điểm nên so sánh

IELTSchef gợi ý vài ý so sánh dễ ăn điểm:

Definite job tăng mạnh ở chart “from”
Study giảm đáng kể
Accompany/family giảm
No reason luôn thấp nhất
Employment-related purposes chiếm phần lớn ở cả hai charts

6. Gợi ý paraphrase

IELTSchef gợi ý một số cách diễn đạt:

accounted for
represented
made up
the largest proportion
a relatively small percentage
employment-related reasons
people migrating for work
by comparison
whereas / while

IELTSchef lưu ý:

Pie chart không cần viết quá nhiều số.

Quan trọng là:

grouping thông minh
overview rõ
so sánh có chọn lọc nha.

The two pie charts illustrate the reasons why people immigrated to and emigrated from a European country in 2009.

Overall, employment-related reasons accounted for the largest proportions in both charts, particularly having a definite job. By contrast, migrating without a specific reason represented the smallest percentage in each case. In addition, people leaving the country were more likely to move for a definite job than those entering it.

Regarding immigration to the European country, accompanying family members was the most common reason, accounting for 25% of immigrants. This was followed closely by people who moved for a definite job at 23%. Meanwhile, study, looking for work and other reasons each represented an identical figure of 15%. Only a small minority of immigrants, at 7%, moved without giving a particular reason.

As for emigration from the country, having a definite job became significantly more dominant, making up 38% of all cases. Other reasons accounted for 23%, while accompanying family represented 15%. The proportion of people leaving to look for work stood at 13%, compared to just 7% for study purposes. Similar to the first chart, no reason was the least common category, at only 4%.
