ELTS Writing Task 1 – Energy production by resource (pie charts)

IELTSchef sẽ chỉ bạn cách xử lý dạng double pie chart này sao cho overview rõ và không bị liệt kê số liệu nha.

1. Hiểu đề bài

Biểu đồ cho thấy tỷ lệ sản xuất năng lượng từ 6 nguồn khác nhau:

Hydrogen
Natural gas
Oil
Other renewable
Coal
Nuclear

trong hai năm:

1985
2003

2. Cách viết Introduction

Paraphrase:

energy production
by different resources
in 1985 and 2003

Viết 1 câu ngắn gọn là đủ nha.

3. Cách viết Overview

IELTSchef gợi ý overview như này:

Natural gas remained the largest source in both years
Oil and coal increased significantly over the period
Nuclear energy declined considerably
Hydrogen stayed unchanged and other renewable sources remained relatively small

IELTSchef lưu ý:

Overview chỉ cần:

biggest
xu hướng chính
nguồn tăng / giảm nổi bật

Không cần nhét quá nhiều số nha.

4. Cách chia Body

BODY 1 – Major energy sources

Tập trung vào:

Natural gas
Oil
Coal

BODY 2 – Remaining sources

Hydrogen:

giữ nguyên 4%

Other renewable:

tăng nhẹ từ 1% → 4%

Nuclear:

giảm mạnh từ 22% → 8%

IELTSchef gợi ý:

Body này nên nhấn mạnh:

nuclear giảm đáng kể
renewable tăng nhưng vẫn thấp

5. Những điểm nên highlight

IELTSchef gợi ý vài ý dễ ăn điểm:

Natural gas remained dominant despite a decline
Coal almost tripled
Oil nearly doubled
Nuclear dropped sharply
Renewable sources still accounted for only a small proportion in 2003

The two pie charts compare the proportions of energy production from six different resources in 1985 and 2003.

Overall, natural gas remained the dominant source of energy production in both years, despite a noticeable decline over the period. By contrast, coal and oil experienced significant growth, while nuclear energy saw a substantial decrease. Hydrogen remained unchanged, and other renewable sources continued to account for relatively small percentages.

In 1985, natural gas was by far the largest energy source, representing 52% of total production. Nuclear energy accounted for 22%, making it the second most important resource, while oil contributed 13%. Coal made up a relatively modest proportion at 8%, whereas hydrogen and other renewable sources represented only 4% and 1% respectively.

By 2003, the proportion of energy generated from natural gas had fallen to 39%, although it still remained the leading source. Oil and coal both increased considerably, rising to 23% and 22% respectively. In contrast, nuclear energy declined sharply to just 8%. Hydrogen remained stable at 4%, while the figure for other renewable resources rose slightly to 4%.
