The maps illustrate changes in the area around the River Stour between 1800 and 2000\.

Overall, the area underwent gradual industrialisation and development, with farmland for animals replaced by industry and a workers’ village, while a new park was later created and woodland expanded.

In 1800, the landscape was largely rural. Farmland for crops was located in the northwest, while woodland occupied the northeast. In the southeast, land was used for animals, and the settlement of Brindell lay in the southwest. The River Stour ran through the centre of the area.

By 1900, significant changes had occurred in the southeast, where the animal farmland had been replaced by an industrial zone. A village named Bun Hill was also established nearby to accommodate workers. However, the farmland for crops, woodland, and Brindell remained largely unchanged.

In 2000, further development took place. The industrial area expanded considerably, and Bun Hill remained in place. A large park, Bun Hill Park, was created in the northeast, replacing part of the woodland. Meanwhile, the farmland for crops and the settlement of Brindell continued to exist with little change.
