HƯỚNG DẪN VIẾT BÀI

IELTS Writing Task 1 – World population distribution (1840–2000)

1. Hiểu đề bài

Biểu đồ thể hiện tỷ lệ dân số thế giới sống ở ba khu vực:

Asia
Europe
The rest of the world

qua 5 mốc thời gian từ 1840 đến 2000.

Điểm cần nắm:

Dạng bar chart theo thời gian dài
Trọng tâm là:
xu hướng tổng thể
sự thay đổi vị trí giữa các khu vực

2. Cách viết Introduction

Paraphrase đề, giữ:

percentage of world population
three regions
time period

→ viết 1 câu ngắn gọn là đủ

BODY 2 – Rest of the world

50 → 30 → 19 (giảm mạnh đến 1920)
22 → 45 (tăng lại đáng kể)

→ cao nhất ban đầu, thấp nhất giữa kỳ, rồi phục hồi mạnh

5. Gợi ý paraphrase

percentage → proportion / share
increased → rose
decreased → fell
peaked at → reached a peak at
recovered → rebounded

Ví dụ:

Asia accounted for the largest share of the global population.
Europe experienced steady growth before a slight decline.
The rest of the world fell sharply and then rebounded.

The bar chart shows the proportions of the world’s population living in Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world between 1840 and 2000.

Overall, Asia accounted for the largest share for most of the period, although its proportion declined over time. In contrast, Europe’s share increased until the mid-20th century before falling, while the rest of the world showed the opposite pattern, decreasing initially and then rising again by 2000.

In 1840, half of the world’s population lived in the rest of the world (50%), followed by Asia at 40%, while Europe accounted for only 10%. By 1880, Asia’s share had grown to 45%, whereas Europe rose significantly to 25%, and the rest of the world dropped to 30%.

Asia reached a peak of 50% in 1920, while Europe continued to increase to 30%. During the same period, the proportion living in the rest of the world fell further to 19%, the lowest figure on the chart.

By 1960, Asia and Europe were equal at 38%, while the rest of the world recovered slightly to 22%. In 2000, Asia’s share declined to 29%, Europe edged up to 31%, and the rest of the world rose sharply to 45%, becoming the largest category again.
