HƯỚNG DẪN VIẾT BÀI

IELTS Writing Task 1 – Factors affecting university choice

Quality of resources
Suitable degree courses
Close to parental home
Quality of teaching
Good sport and social activities

IELTSchef nhắc bạn:

Dạng này là comparison over time, nên bạn cần:

so sánh giữa 2 năm
tìm yếu tố tăng/giảm rõ nhất

2. Cách viết Introduction

Paraphrase đề bài, giữ đủ:

các yếu tố ảnh hưởng
tỷ lệ (%)
2 năm

Viết gọn là được nha.

3. Cách viết Overview

IELTSchef gợi ý bạn các ý chính:

Suitable degree courses là yếu tố quan trọng nhất ở cả hai năm
Một số yếu tố tăng (close to home, quality of teaching), trong khi một số giảm (resources, sports/social)
Close to parental home tăng mạnh nhất

Chỉ cần 2–3 câu như vậy là đủ nha.

4. Cách chia Body

BODY 1 – Nhóm tăng

Suitable degree courses:

Tăng nhẹ

35% → 37%

Close to parental home:

Tăng mạnh

9% → 22%

Quality of teaching:

Tăng

15% → 18%

IELTSchef gợi ý:

Bạn nên highlight “close to home” là yếu tố tăng mạnh nhất nha.

BODY 2 – Nhóm giảm

Quality of resources:

Giảm

21% → 16%

Good sport and social activities:

Giảm mạnh

19% → 6%

IELTSchef lưu ý:

“Sport and social” là yếu tố giảm mạnh nhất, nên rất đáng mention nha.

5. Gợi ý paraphrase

IELTSchef gợi ý bạn một số cách diễn đạt:

factors / aspects
influence / affect decisions
proportion of students
increased / decreased significantly

Ví dụ:

Suitable degree courses remained the most important factor in both years nha.

The proportion of students choosing universities based on proximity to home rose significantly over the period.

The bar chart compares the percentages of students citing five factors influencing their choice of higher education institution in 1995 and 2005.

Overall, suitable degree courses remained the most important factor in both years, while the importance of proximity to parental home increased markedly. In contrast, good sport and social activities became significantly less influential over time.

In 1995, suitable degree courses accounted for the largest share at 35 percent, rising slightly to 37 percent in 2005. The quality of teaching and resources were also notable considerations, although both declined over the period, from 15 to 18 percent for teaching and from 21 to 16 percent for resources.

A substantial change can be seen in the importance of location. The proportion of students choosing institutions close to their parental home more than doubled, increasing from 9 percent in 1995 to 22 percent in 2005, making it the second most cited factor. By contrast, interest in sport and social activities dropped sharply from 19 percent to just 6 percent, the lowest figure among all categories in 2005.
